Meet Laura Krohn, New Director of Spa & Wellness at The Spa at Grand View Lodge

For over a century, Grand View Lodge has understood something simple: This land does the work. The pines, the cold and the clean air off Gull Lake. The way a Minnesota sky changes how you feel by the time you walk back inside. Long before "wellness" was a category, this property was already practicing it.

Introducing The Spa at Grand View Lodge, formerly Glacial Waters Spa.

Laura Krohn, Director of Spa & wellness at the Spa at Grand View Lodge

I come to this work a little differently than most spa directors. Before I ran a spa, I studied nutrition science and then public health. Along the way, I worked inside acute mental health and recovery settings, where I learned that real restoration isn't a luxury add-on. It's structural: sleep, food, movement and connection, and a nervous system finally given permission to settle.

That's the lens I'm bringing here.

This isn't about chasing a wellness trend. It's about taking what's already here — the lake, the forest, the seasons — and building around what we know actually works: a sauna sequence rooted in Nordic tradition, the cortisol drop of a forest walk, nutrition that supports rather than fights the body.

In the months ahead, you'll feel that shift — in our treatments, our programming and how every season here earns its place.

This is for every guest who walks through our doors, regardless of where home is.

The elements have been here all along, quietly restoring people long before any of us gave it a name. Our job now is simply to make sure nature continues to be the foundation of our wellness story at Grand View Lode and that we carry that forward with reverence and intention!

Much more to come. The land has been ready for a while — we're just catching up to it.
