Jessica Jacobson stands as a remarkable figure at Grand View Lodge, serving as the Assistant General Manager. Her approach to leadership is rooted in leading with energy and integrity. A Journey Through Leadership

Jessica began her journey at Grand View Lodge in 2007. She started in reservations, focusing on family reunions. This initial role blossomed into a comprehensive career, leading her through various operational layers of the resort. She shifted from reservations management to front desk leadership, where she honed her skills in guest services and revenue management.

Her dedication led her to corporate responsibilities, overseeing revenue management for both Grand View Lodge and Tanque Verde Ranch. Afterward, she returned to property operations as the Director of Rooms. Now, as Assistant General Manager, she manages several teams, including front desk, reservations, transportation, housekeeping, recreation and security. She thrives in this multifaceted role, embracing the challenge it presents.

Leadership That Inspires Collaboration 

When discussing leadership, Jessoca emphasizes movement and collaboration. She believes that the best ideas emerge when teams come together. Rather than opting for solitary decision-making, she fosters an environment where everyone can contribute. "The more people you get in a room, the better the ideas," she asserts.

She understands that not everyone speaks up immediately. Some may need time to observe and process before sharing their thoughts. She values this and respects those quieter moments, providing encouragement later. Her leadership style allows for an inclusive atmosphere where all voices are heard.

She often rolls up her sleeves and collaborates with her team, whether folding laundry with housekeeping or engaging with various staff members. "You have to genuinely care about people," she emphasizes. This care extends to their lives, families and overall well-being.

She credits her mom as her greatest inspiration. Her mom, a pioneering police officer in Florida, instilled confidence in her daughters. "Barriers are often imagined," she would say, reinforcing the belief that limits are self-imposed. This encouragement shaped Jessica's mindset, instilling a drive that permeates her leadership style.

Even after nearly two decades at Grand View Lodge, she finds joy in the small moments. The arrival of spring, when the docks are set up, marks a vibrant time for the resort. During hectic days, she often seeks solace by the lake. "Nobody's ever having a bad day at the waterfront," she notes, highlighting the essence of her work. Every effort made by her team culminates in joyful experiences for families, allowing them to relax and reconnect.
