Each year when spring rolls around, the excitement begins among golfers ready for the first tee-off of the year. The golf staff at Grand View Lodge spends the off-season planning for the coming year and exploring ways to improve the courses. The Pines is a long-time favorite of guests at the resort and golfers throughout the region.
Grand View Lodge has partnered with Bobby Jones Links to help with a renovation project at The Pines. A three-phase reconstruction project will begin later this year. Work will start at The Lakes course and continue the next two years with The Marsh and The Woods both also seeing changes.
Each of the courses will see a major transformation to the bunkers during the project. Some bunkers will be removed, some will be improved, and others will be newly added to each of the three courses. Ohio white sand will be brought to replace the current sand in the bunkers. The playability, overall surfaces, and drainage on the courses will improve as a result.
The project's initial phase calls for the Lakes course to close a few weeks early, around the end of September, for work to begin. The Woods and The Marsh will remain open for golfers to finish out the 2022 season. Phase Two will move on to The Woods in the spring, and the project will finish in the fall of next year, with the third and final phase taking place on The Marsh course.
Adam Haugen, Director of Golf at Grand View Lodge, stated, "This is a great investment for Grand View. The level of the golf experience will be heightened for our guests and members. We look forward to getting this project started."
One of the nine-hole courses is typically closed in the spring and the fall for maintenance, so golfers at the Pines are not expected to experience much of a change in playing schedules during the project. During the upcoming season and throughout the renovation and following the project, the staff at Grand View will continue providing golfers with the best golf experience in the area.
