When the cold kicks in and the days get short, the fun starts at Grand View Lodge. Wondering what you can do during a winter stay here? We’ve outlined some of our favorite non-summer activities below, organized by activities you can pursue, with or without the snow. Snow Activities
Do winter weather advisories make you giddy? If you love the snow, there usually is plenty of it in northern Minnesota. These activities will be right up your alley!
Snowmobiling Rent snowmobiles from Nisswa Adventure Rentals and spend a day on the trails! With hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails to choose from, you don’t have to ride the same section twice. Plus, they have all the gear you need to stay warm, keep dry, and look stylish all at the same time!
Nordic Skiing & Snowshoeing
Get your blood pumping and work up a sweat while enjoying the winter scenery at the Pines. There are over 20 kilometers of groomed trails to choose. You can bring your own skis or shoes, or just use ours. We have plenty available for our guests.
Mount Ski Gull Prefer to go down a hill instead? Ski, snowboard, and tube at Mount Ski Gull! Just a short drive away from Grand View, you can have fun on the slopes all day! Show your room key at Grand View and get 15% off your lift pass.
Sledding
There’s fun for every age at our onsite sledding hill. Bring your own super-sled, or we have a couple of fun sleds available at the top of the hill. Fun for kids of all ages. Warm up afterward with a hot beverage from Grand Outfitters or Brew.
Non-Snow Activities
If there isn’t enough snow on the ground to pursue all of the snow-related activities, or you prefer staying away from it—there is still plenty for you to do! Try one or all of the following activities!
Ice Fishing A Minnesota ritual everyone should experience at least once, Gull and Roy Lake offer phenomenal ice fishing all winter long. Stay during Ice Fishing Extravaganza weekend to experience the largest charity ice fishing tournament in existence. We also have fish houses available for rent during your stay. Make sure you book ahead to ensure you get one!
Ice Skating
Pick one of our lighted ice-skating rinks! Lace-up your skates and take in the fresh air while enjoying a favorite winter pastime.
Take a swim or hot tub at NorthPark Take a refreshing swim, warm up, and relax your muscles in Minnesota’s largest hot tub. There’s plenty of room for you and your family!
Horse-drawn Wagon Ride See the property and take in the winter scenery behind a pair of majestic horses. Stay warm underneath a blanket, or bring a hot beverage to sip during the ride.
Cookie Decorating Kits
Who knew a creative activity could be so tasty? Tap into your artistic side while you decorate your dessert from the comfort of your cabin! To pick on up, just stop down at the Northwoods Pub and request one!
Sample Beer, Wine, or Cocktails Purchase one of our beer tasting kits from the front desk and sample exceptional beers paired with snacks, or check out one of the area’s renowned breweries. Jack Pine, Roundhouse, 14 Lakes, and Big Axe are all within easy driving distance of the resort.
Are cocktails more to your liking? 5Rocks Distilling in Brainerd is a family-owned distillery passionate about creating products that reflect the spirit of Minnesota. Sample their smooth and refreshing spirits, or try one of their renowned cocktails. If you prefer wine, drive out to Dennis Drummond Winery, also located in the Brainerd Lakes area.
