Grand View Lodge Announces New 60-Room Boutique Hotel

Beyond The Boardroom, Technology & Developments

The iconic Grand View Lodge Spa and Golf Resort, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2016, is continuing to make history with the May 2019 debut of a 60-room boutique hotel.

North floorplan

Aptly named ‘North,’ the hotel is designed by local architects, Nor-Son Construction, based in Brainerd, MN., with interiors by the award-winning local firm Looney and Associates. The design concept is an urban take on the traditional guest lodge and quite a departure from the current cabin-style accommodations available at Grand View. In addition to the chic guest rooms, the hotel will feature two gathering areas, an expansive lobby with a grand fireplace as the centerpiece, a lobby lounge and bar, several conference rooms, and a full-service business center.

North entrance

Upon entering, hotel guests will immediately notice the well thought out design throughout and refined details of the sophisticated space, which truly make the hotel an authentic up-north experience – hence its name. Features like comfortable lounging area with welcoming seating, high ceilings, wainscot paneling, and light tones such as grey and white textured wallpaper are just a few touches to the lobby. The reception area is anchored by an oversized dark red oak shelving unit, which exudes an elegant ambiance and is manned by Grand View’s helpful guest service attendants. Nearby, the 19-hour bar will offer refreshments throughout the day, starting with espresso, specialty coffees, tea and hot chocolate, and transitioning in the evenings with wine, liquor, beer, and light snacks.

North fireplace

A variety of casual seating areas beckon passersby to stop and enjoy this central gathering place and lobby area. From luxury sectionals and plush ottomans to leather chairs and uniquely-styled coffee tables, it is the perfect area to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or catch a business meeting or call. A beautiful stone fireplace will sit in the lobby, acting as a focal point and central social area. Its stones will be white and gray, dramatically stacking all the way to the ceiling. Two sizeable windows spanning ceiling to floor will flank either side of the stone fireplace, creating a cozy and relaxing atmosphere and the perfect place for an evening glass of wine.

North room The hotel’s modern design is carried through to each of the 60 luxurious accommodations, which feature a king-sized or two queen beds, sitting area with workspace, and an open closet concept. Rooms are well-appointed with a large flat screen TV, mini fridge, safe, and clothing steamer. To bring the outside in, large sliding glass doors open to the outdoors and allow ambient light and fresh air to fill the rooms. Accommodations will also feature the latest in energy efficiency and guest comfort systems with adjustable lighting throughout. Bathrooms include spacious walk-in showers and vanity areas.

The Business Center and Library will be conveniently located just off the lobby and bar area. This open space also affords privacy and a quiet place to work, if needed, with three areas for sitting, including a boardroom style table with seating for 10; a living room area with couch, two chairs, and a coffee table; and two chairs anchoring another table. Contemporary styled fabrics, textures, and furniture will bring a vibrant energy into this tranquil space.

North meeting

All of the hotel’s conference and meeting spaces will have pendant lighting throughout, dangling from the ceilings. In addition to the social gathering spaces in the lobby and lounge area, there will be three conference rooms varying in sizes. The conference and gathering areas will span 5,000 square feet and able to accommodate up to 300 people, further positioning Grand View Lodge as an ideal location for hosting meetings and events of all sizes. The other two conference areas will be boardroom style, ideal for a day of meetings for smaller groups. The latest audio-visual equipment will be used throughout the function spaces, and expert meeting planners are on hand to assist with custom events’ needs.

North, conveniently located near the Main Lodge and Hole #1 on the Garden Course, will break ground this spring and is expected to be complete in May 2019. This exciting new chapter in Grand View’s history will further differentiate the property from its competitors, bringing a modern look and feel to the ever-expanding resort. From couples to large families and groups, including corporate functions, weddings, and other social gatherings, all guests will experience this new luxury style with all the necessary amenities and services under one roof. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
