First Ever Distilled
Grand View Lodge first ever Distilled event!
As the rise of microbreweries and wineries continue to grow, the distilling movement has been a slow rise. As home distilling still remains illegal due to safety concerns and old laws at the turn of the century, it is generally a more difficult science to learn on your own. But this hasn’t stopped a new growth in the craft spirits industry. Now in Minnesota and growing across the US, this is becoming a new trend in ‘grain-to-glass’ production. We have also seen a great growth in the art of charcuterie or creation of artisan meats which is resulting in some amazing flavors. What is resulting is a true food and spirit craftsmanship that needs to be embraced.
And this is what Grand View Lodge has done with the first of its kind Craft Spirits and Artisan Meats Weekend named Distilled.
To expose the growth of the newest “fad” we are bringing together local distilleries and leading butchers in the state – all to one room at Grand View Lodge. If you have ever been to our other events, De’Vine or Brewfest, you know exactly how much fun Distilled can be.
There will be a dinner on Friday night featuring premium spirits paired perfectly with the culinary masterpiece of our chefs. Saturday will be complete with class that teaches you about the sciences, passions and art from many of the leading creators in this industry. Plus being able to learn some of the magic of perfect combinations and the art of mixing cocktails, you will become an apprentice mixologist. We are not talking about walking into a bar and pouring a captain and coke—we are talking about knock-your-guests-off-their-feet cocktail mixes.
Saturday evening we will be hosting the Grand Tasting of all the distilleries attending the event. Try hand crafted gins from the north shore to some of the new whiskies from Osakis plus taste of the greatest salumi, prosciuttos and cured meats being produced in our state. On Sunday morning, there will be a full Bloody Mary Bar with breakfast and BACON galore.
Our emcees for the weekend include WCCO’s Mike Augustyniak of “Mike’s Mix” and Jason DeRusha of “DeRusha Eats.” They will talk about how the distilling scene has changed statewide since the Surly Bill and where they see the future of this industry and the MN culinary scene is going. Add on the fact you will be staying at the most awarded resort in the state, it promises to be a fantastic and fun learning experience for you and your guests.
Join us this April 8-9 for a weekend of fun starting at $215 per person for two nights. The Friday night spirits dinner is an additional $75 and can be reserved during your booking as it will fill up fast with limited seating. We hope to see you and click here to book the package or call directly at 1-866-801-2951.
