Convenient Lodging Ice Fishing Extravaganza
Mark your calendars for the 26th annual Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza, also known as the world’s largest charitable ice fishing event. The Extravaganza began in the early 1990’s with the goal of creating a signature event in the Brainerd lakes Area that would supply a fun winter event and money to non-profit charities in the area. Upon creating the event, the Jaycees have been successful in accomplishing all that they have hoped to and Grand View Lodge has been a proud major partner of this event since its early beginnings.
Each year, Grand View Lodge partners with the Brainerd Jaycees to create an optimal experience while partaking in the weekend of winter fun and activities. For our guests, this isn’t just a ‘fishing weekend’ but for those who do fish, have the most convenient and fun weekend of their winter. Enjoy everything from a dueling piano performance Friday night, to conveniently located lodging, and a heated tent on the lake with free beer and food available to Grand View guests only.
The weekend begins on Friday night where the Brainerd Jaycees will host Deuces Wild Dueling Pianos for an evening of humor, music, and noteworthy entertainment. This show will have you on your feet, and jamming out with a side of gut wrenching laughter. Located at the Gull Lake Center, Grand View guests will be just a hop and a skip away from their lodging units and access to Grand View’s free shuttle service (available to resort guests only). Also included in this evening, is a plated dinner, so make sure to come hungry.
Saturday morning wake up and indulge in a breakfast buffet that will keep you energized for a day on the ice. Grand View offers shuttles onto the ice for guests only. You’ll be with in walking distance of your fishing hole, as well as the FREE Grand View Hospitality Tent. Located right in the center of the fishing derby, you’ll find FREE chili, hot chocolate, and beer! Available for Grand View Guests only, fishermen around you will envy the access you have to escape the cold for warm snack breaks throughout the day. For those not fishing, experience the fun and competition from our campfire area near are tent and be in the center of the action. For those fishing, you will be conveniently close to our fantastic accommodations of the nearest lodging in the area, Grand View Lodge.
Each year the Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza generates more than $1-million in revenue for area businesses and more than $200,000 for over 45 Brainerd Lakes Area charities. Not only that, but the event is ran solely by volunteers and has nation recognition in Sports Illustrated, NBC Nightly News, CBS News, New York Times, National Geographic, ESPN The Magazine, and MSNBC, just to name a few.
