A Letter From The Pines Golf Pro Jack Wawro

Tee It Up

At a resort golf course it is very unique to have a strong membership. People are always shocked to hear that we have 300+ memberships which equates to 650 plus total members. With our two programs the Full (unlimited) and the Associate (20 round) we are able fit the needs of our wide membership base. The majority of our members are snowbirds that live in the lakes area in the summer and then follow the sun in the winter. However, over the past few years we have gained many members locally and captured many Minneapolis players that are in our area a few times over the summer.

Regardless of who our members are they share the same traits. Our members enjoy having fun playing golf at our three courses, they love using our amenities at our resort year-round, and take advantage of having the chance to meet fellow members at our numerous resort functions and golf tournaments.

These functions even extend into the winter months. Each winter, a large group of members get together in the warm climate areas for golf and dinner. The past three seasons were in Naples, Florida while this year’s event brought us to Scottsdale, Arizona. This year we had a blast playing 36 holes at beautiful Tonto Verde followed by an outdoor barbecue. It was a great time and we really enjoyed seeing everyone.

I’m amazed of the amount of different stories boasting about memories had at Grand View Lodge when mingling with our members at this event. Many explain how they enjoy the amenities at Grand View Lodge. They talk about playing golf with their kids and grandkids at The Pines. They talk about taking the boat over to eat outside on the beach at Looney’s. Many reminisce a spa day they enjoyed. There are even couples who talk about how much fun they had while participating in the couples’ league and then heading over to wine and dine at Cru. These are just a few examples of the stories I have heard from our members.

If you are interested in golf memberships, we offer five different levels: full, full entry level, associate, corporate, and garden only. Each golf membership is different in its own way. Some include our “resort membership” which offers discounts for food and beverage items at all seven restaurants, beverage cart purchases, spa services and GVL retail merchandise. Did we mention you also get to use our facilities year-round: beach, pool and fitness center!

The full membership includes unlimited golf anytime at The Pines, The Preserve and The Garden. We host “full-only members” events throughout the year. Interested in bringing a buddy to golf? No worries, we offer discounted rates to your guests at certain times. You also can bring kids under 17 for free. The Full Membership is $2100.

The full-entry level membership offers unlimited golf anytime at The Pines, The Preserve and The Garden courses. This membership is only for those 18-35 years old. It includes everything the Full Membership does except for member events. This membership is $1500.

Still looking for a membership but not around often to use it? The Associate Membership is a great choice. You’ll receive golf on per round basis (20 rounds) at The Pines and The Preserve and still get all of the resort discounts. Special guest rates, access to the practice area, and kids play free are also part of the membership. This membership is only $1500. The bottom line is that our members have found a place that they can feel comfortable to sit back and enjoy their golf and resort membership for a fraction of the price they would pay at a private golf course.
