This December have fun exploring 12 Days of Christmas at Grand View Lodge. The holiday season is brimming with family fun activities created to increase the holiday spirit on the resort. Here are 12 days why Grand View Lodge is the best in the state when it comes to a holiday vacation.

1 – December 15: Ginger Bread House Making

Create a unique Gingerbread House out of Graham Crackers and an assortment of candy such as Candy Canes, Dots, assorted Christmas chocolates, and more. The icing is made by our chefs in the kitchen. Perhaps your family wants to create a lookalike to your very own home, or you’d prefer to attempt to make your house look like the Main Lodge. Either way, this activity is fun for the entire family and even couples. This Christmas tradition is festive, and fun and the best part is seeing everyone’s unique creations at the end. Oh, and did we mention, you get to eat your creation.

2- December 16: Cookie Decorating

It isn’t the holidays without cookie decorating. Most families make at least one batch of cookies over the holidays. Save yourself the hassle and clean up and join us for cookie decorating. Sugar cookies and icing are premade by our culinary staff. Cookies feature a variety of Christmas shapes including Christmas trees, gingerbread people, candy canes, and more. Sprinkles, Icing, and candies for decorating are all provided. Use icing of different colors, top the sugar cookie, put as many toppings on, and enjoy a sugary holiday treat.

3- December 17: Christmas Ornament Making

Remember your holiday vacation at Grand View Lodge with a homemade Christmas ornament for your tree. Supplies include popsicle sticks, cotton balls, tissue paper, glue, construction paper, and pipe cleaners. A reindeer, Santa Clause, or the Main Lodge…the options are endless when it comes to what you want to create. 


4- December 18: Making Popcorn Garlands

Bring a little old-fashioned glamor into your holiday traditions with this easy and kid-friendly activity. Get into the Christmas decorating spirit by making popcorn garland. Popcorn kernels, sewing needle, and thread are provided. The popcorn will be pre-popped for your unique creation and appetite. Thread your needle and make it go through the thickest part of the popcorn kernel so that it doesn’t break off. Continue stringing popcorn onto the thread until it is the length you would like. Now all you have left is to do is decorate your tree with your creation!

6- December 20: Christmas Ornament Making

7- December 21: Scavenger Hunt

Become a detective and keep your eyes peeled! Those who participate in the Scavenger Hunt at Grand View Lodge will receive a list of specific items to find around the resort, along with tasks you must complete. The participants will seek to find and complete all of the items on the list. Some examples might include finding a squirrel, finding the Tanque Verde Cantina, or even completing a human pyramid on the beach. There are no prizes for completion of the hunt, just an adventure for kids to enjoy the outdoors during their stay.

8- December 22: Santa’s Elf Tuck-in

He’s making a list, and checking it twice! Customize your stay at Grand View Lodge with our Elf Tuck-in offered on Friday, December 22. Enjoy this pre-Christmas favorite and be tucked in by one of Santa’s elves as they bring candy canes and read a favorite Christmas story to children before bedtime. Sign up at gvlfun.com. Cost of the visit is $25 and will last approximately 15 minutes.

9- December 23: Stories with Mrs. Claus

Grand View Lodge is so popular that even Mrs. Claus comes to visit. She is taking time and wants everyone to know she is sharing holiday stories on December 23. Be sure to bring your camera so you can get a picture for the kids to remember for years to come. Enchant their Christmas spirit with this 30-minute activity. She may even be able to relay some Christmas wishes to Santa Claus.

10- December 24: Family Wagon Rides

Enjoy the beauty of the snow-covered trees and landscape that Grand View Lodge has to offer as you ride behind two beautiful Clydesdale horses. Take in the scenery with a group of family and friends or an intimate private ride with your sweetheart. The rides last 10-15 minutes. No reservations are required. Rides are available on a first come, first served basis.

11- December 25: Family Fun Center with a Christmas twist

Don’t want to bear the cold? Spend Christmas Day and enjoy some indoor fun for the family at our Family Fun Center with a Christmas twist. Offering Wii gaming station, X-box Kinect, and an 18-foot slide and bounce house, you are sure to be entertained. What’s the Christmas twist? Your favorite family Christmas movies will be playing and you’ll be able to munch on delicious Christmas cookies. The Family Fun Center is complimentary to your stay.

12- December 26: Holiday Baking Demo

Learn from the best culinary staff in the state. Our culinary team prepares meals not only for our guests, banquets, weddings, and meetings but also for upscale events such as de’vine, Distilled, and Brewfest. You may have even seen them prepare a demo on one of the many news channels on television. Our Holiday Baking Demo is an hour and a half demo where guests will be able to watch our culinary staff prepare a fabulous and delicious treat right in front of your eyes. Learn, take notes, laugh, and ask questions. The best part of the demo is enjoying the finished product.
