New at the Tanque Verde Cantina is the Prickly Pear Margarita, a signature drink which originated from our sister property Tanque Verde Ranch. The margarita is made with real natural syrup from a prickly pear, Patron Silver, Triple Sec, and lime sour.
So where does the natural syrup come from? The prickly pear cactus actually produces fruit or tunas. The fruit when ready to be harvested are typically dark red or purple in color. Harvest is usually around the month of August. The fruit is cleaned and blended in a food processor, and then the thick slurry is strained and used for syrup.
Our Cantina is excited to release this drink this summer! We also have one similar for the kids called the Cactus Cooler. It contains the same fresh prickly pear juice and Mist Twist soda.
