Best Resort for all Seasons – Editor's Choice (Minnesota Meetings & Events 3/28/11)
Any Minnesota resort on a lake is easy to love in the summertime. But winter is the real test: Would you want to spend time there, bring your group there in January? Is there enough to do, and is it worthwhile? My answer is a resounding, repeated “yes” to Grand View Lodge on Gull Lake. More...

Named Top 125 Golf Resorts  (Conde Nast 3/22/11)
Big honors for the folks at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, Minnesota! Grand View Lodge has been selected as one of the top 125 Golf Resorts by Conde Nast Traveler 2011 Reader’s Poll. Ranked number six among the top 10 Northern U.S. Golf Resorts, readers voted based on criteria that included overall lodging, dining, service, and of course, golf amenities. The resort is the only one in Minnesota to make the prestigious list, which serves as a guide to the top golf destinations across the country.  More...

Go North! (BEST of the Twin Cities 12/10)
Winter can seem like a chore when your only cold-weather activities involve shoveling the driveway and buying new snow tires.  However, winter takes on an entirely different meaning if you're able to enjoy it away from the city.  There are plenty of winter wonderland destinations north of the Twin Cities that can transform serious adults into giddy kids.  More...

18 Escapes for Winter Weekend Fun (Minnesota Monthly 02/10)
When I think of the Brainerd Lakes area, I think of pull tabs and party boats - not spa getaways. Which may explain why I tend to prefer the scenic North Shore to the Paul Bunyan Byway. So when I started scoping out destinations for this year's winter travel guide, the idea of heading to Grand View Lodge on Gull Lake both intrigued and unnerved me.  More...

Dispatch from Grand View Lodge: Camp Kids (Canadian Family 7/6/09)
I was never a camp kid, and this is a bit of a sore point for me.  Whenever my friends start to regale one another with (supposedly) hilarious stories about the grand old days back at camp, I just sit quietly, waiting to change the subject.  I don't know the songs or the sayings or that cup flipping clapping thing former camp kids love to demonstrate.  Happily, for those who also missed out on camp, you can get a taste of it at Grand View.  More...

Dispatch from Grand View Lodge: All the Small Things (Canadian Family 7/2/09)
Sometimes, the smallest details are the nicest.  Take, for instance, the fact that most of the restaurants at GVL - from the Italian Gardens, a charming little cottage where homemade Italian cuisine is served family-style, to the Sherwood Forest, an upscale timber lodge steak and chophouse (you can take a short shuttle from the lodge to reach it, but I recommend the 45 minute pontoon cruise through scenic lakes and waterways) - all of them have a playground located right outside.  More...

Dispatch from Grand View Lodge:  All-Inclusive, Minnesota Style (Canadian Family 6/30/09)

Lake D-Light (Odyssey Couleur Fall 2009)
Minnesota?  What's in Minnesota?  That was my initial reaction when I received an invitation to spend a few days in The Land of 10,000 Lakes.  I'm always game for a new adventure, so I signed up!  It was the most surprising and exhilarating four days I've had in a long time.  More...

Historic Retreats (Old House Journal Aug. 2009)
The Grand View Lodge was built almost as an afterthought: In 1916, real estate developer M.V. Baker snapped up 3,000 feet of lakefront property along Nisswa, Minnesota's Gull Lake, planning to sell it to eager buyers for $10 a foot.  Soon, he had so many prospective clients clamoring for property that he needed a place to house them when they came to view the lots.  More...
