GV Brown Family Reunion
Our mom and dad first brought us to Grandview Lodge in 1976
for a week long summer vacation over the 4th of July holiday. We
enjoyed ourselves so much that we have anxiously returned every
year since.
This summer will be our 33rd annual Brown Family Reunion
at GVL! We were a family of 8 when we first arrived here. Now we
are 50 strong. All 50 of us gather the week of July 4th to celebrate
our love as a family just as Mom and Dad showed us how to do so
many years ago.
Gramma Gerry (Mom) has lived at Grand View all
summer long for several years now. She plays golf every year with
her teenaged grand- and great-grand children. And every year you'll
hear the grandkids tell her, "Grandma, this is the
last year you're going to beat us!"
She just giggles and says, "Oh? Ok."
Our favorite stories are too many to present here. There
are as many favorites as there are Browns. Grand View Lodge itself
remains our most favorite. None of us can imagine life without GVL. It
has been "home" for
us all these years.
If you happen to be at GVL over the 4th of July, you'll see
the Browns. We are the ones in the matching t-shirts! Only 161 days
until we return to GVL!
God bless Grand View
Lodge,
Dave Brown,
Proud Son, Brother, Father and Uncle |

Our Roy Lodge Holiday
Our family has been coming to Grand View Lodge at least once (and sometimes twice a year if schedules work out) for over ten years. We started out staying close to the pool when our oldest was very young, progressed to Gull Haven and then the Interlachen townhomes.
Our latest stay was truly the most magical – we stayed for seven nights and celebrated Christmas as a family in one of the new Roy Lodge Cottages. We ate lots of great food, played games every day, rented and watched movies together snuggled on the couch, made trips to the pool, and even ventured out for snow tubing at nearby Ski Gull. We packed our own small alpine trees and decorated the mantle to make it even more festive and cozy! The cottage was wonderful and we all had a great time relaxing together as a family. We all agreed that it was really one of our most memorable Holidays ever and it was very hard to leave – but we will be back again.

March Birthday Snow Jam
Every March four people in my husband's family (including the two of us) celebrate a birthday. To mark the occasion it has become a tradition for nine of us to pile into two cars and head up for a cozy, snow-filled weekend of fun at Grand View Lodge.
We rent a five-bedroom townhouse and bring a ton of food, a variety of board games, and our comfiest clothes. For two days, we do nothing but play, laugh and eat.
My mother-in-law and I always venture over to the spa on Saturday afternoons for a massage and a few hours of quiet reading in the relaxation room. Meanwhile, the guys spend that time snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. We meet again in the evening for dinner, a game or two, and, on occasion, a late-night snowball fight.
This year we almost didn't make the journey because of the snowstorm. But none of us could stand the thought of missing our trip! We all agreed that it was well worth the icy trek. Our trip to Grand View Lodge is something the whole family looks forward to each year -- and something we hope to continue, even as our family grows. |
