Summer Activities

There’s no end to the fun you can have at Grand View Lodge during the summer season. With the warm sun, pleasant days, beautiful Gull Lake and splendor of the great outdoors—choosing from our array of activities may be the most difficult thing you have to do!

We offer structured and free-style activities for all ages. Check out the activities listed below and please feel free to speak with our social director to find out about special events.

Beach Activities Enjoy our 1,500 foot expanse of natural sand beach on beautiful Gull Lake. Lounge on the beach, enjoy a swim, or sit back with a good book and stay all afternoon. We provide a large variety of water sports including fishing boats, canoes, playaks, paddle boats and pontoons. We also offer waterskiing and tubing..

Indoor Pool & Waterslide ~ Fitness Room Our aqua facility features a 110-foot indoor water slide, connecting swimming pools, two hot tubs, three fountains and two water guns. Located near the beach and next to Loony’s Snack Bar, your whole family will have fun!
A fitness room is located on the upper floor complete with a ten-station Universal Gym, exercise bikes, free weights, treadmills, cross trainers, mats and more.

Game Room Our game room, located in the lower level of the Main Lodge, offers plenty of fun with video games, billiards and table tennis. Wine & Culinary Partake in our wine tastings and special culinary experiences. Located in the Headwaters Wine Cellar, and led by our sommelier, you’ll enjoy learning about the art and culture of fine wines.

Spa Experiences Take a special retreat and enjoy the massage and beauty treatments at Glacial Waters Spa. Perfect for rejuvenating, renewing and enjoying the summer season.

Fishing & Boating Gull Lake is famous for its Walleye, Northern, Trout and Bass. Launch your boat, rent one of ours, or take a pontoon fishing excursion. A limited number of boat lifts are available to handle weights of up to 2,000 or 4,000 lbs. Please reserve a boat lift at additional charge in advance. Please note that boats cannot be tied to beachfront docks. Gull Lake is easy to explore and is connected by waterway to the Gull Lake Chain of lakes. Anglers may want to hire a fishing guide to locate the best spots. We can also advise you as to the latest fishing conditions.

Golf Instruction Whether you are a beginner or seasoned golfer, our golf instructors are here to help you fine tune your game. Individual and group instruction is available.

Hiking & Nature Explore our walking trails lined with thousands of flowers. Take a leisurely walk through our many gardens and wooded paths for a relaxing connection to Minnesota’s summer beauty. The Paul Bunyan Trail is nearby and offers more than 100 miles of paved trails from Brainerd to Bemidji. Miles of trails are also available in the nearby Pillsbury State Forest.

Summer Activities Our social programs run from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Typical weekly activities may include horseback riding, biking, water activities, bingo, bonfires, cooking classes, watercolor art classes and more. Please sign up at the lobby desk when you arrive or call ahead if your group is larger than 15. Most organized activities are included with your lodging.

Winter Activities

Relax by a toasty fire after an exhilarating day out in our snowy wonderland! Winter is a prime time for a unique Minnesota vacation. You’ll find indoor and outdoor activities for your next winter retreat at Grand View Lodge.

Ice Fishing After a brief lull in the autumn, Gull Lake freezes over and the fish start biting again. Rent one of our fish houses and head out to the best spots for an ice fishing getaway. Then enjoy the warmth of a roaring fire and the relaxing atmosphere of our dining and lodging facilities for the perfect stay.

Skiing & Snowshoeing Explore over 20 kilometers of groomed cross country ski trails at The Pines Golf Course. Bring your own skis or snowshoes or rent them from our ski shop. Downhill skiing is available at nearby Ski Gull.

Snowmobiling Bring your own snowmobile or rent one nearby for a great time exploring the hundreds of miles of Minnesota snowmobile trails in the region. Let Grand View Lodge be your home base and enjoy a relaxing massage at Glacial Waters Spa after a long day’s ride.

Movie Rentals Rent a movie and stay in during a cozy winter evening or afternoon. Movies are available at the front desk.

Holiday Celebrations Grand View Lodge offers traditional holiday activities and experiences during Thanksgiving, Christmas, the annual Nisswa City of Lights celebration, and for New Years.

Kid's Club

Our young guests enjoy the supervised activities of our age-appropriate Kid’s Clubs. Parents may leave their children in the care of our dedicated Kid’s Club staff and enjoy time alone or pursuing their own activities. Babysitters are available for children under age three. Inquire before your stay.

Please sign up in the lobby to participate. You may sign up for part or all of the day. Additional fees apply. Lunch is served between noon and 1 pm. Dinner will be served during Kid’s Night Out.

Kid’s Club - Ages 3 – 6 Your children will enjoy their days filled with games, arts and crafts, adventures and fun! Learning along with nature and exploring their time in Minnesota’s lakes and woods, children enjoy discovering nature and getting to know other children during their stay. All activities are age-appropriate.

Kid’s Night Out - Ages 3 – 12 A special night for kids! Themes change throughout the week. Wacky Relay Races Night, Mystery Night, Waves of Laughter Night are just a few.

Adventure Club - Ages 7 – 12 For older children, the Adventure Club offers a great way to spend time with other children. Art projects, field games, and scavenger hunts are some of the activities your children will enjoy.
